As we all know from watching any news source out there, Egypt is currently in transition. After the violent/and non-violent protests, President Hosni Mubarak gave into the wishes of the people and stepped down. But now what?
The military is currently in power and is working to calm the heightened sense of insecurity. However there is still no clear answer as to who will be in charge next… What does this mean for Israel? Well, if Muslim extremists take control and do not heed the prior treaties, it could be a very horrendous exchange for Israel.
We all know as believers we should pray for Israel and Jerusalem – we are commanded to: Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Those who love you will prosper Psalm 122:6 , but we should also lift up this situation in prayer and ask our father earnestly for the salvation of the Egyptians and of all the Islamic peoples surrounding Israel, that they may be able to see God as they should and realize how much He loves them and wishes to have an intimate relationship with them.
Here is a great prayer I found that could help if you so choose to pray for Egypt:
Lord, work a miracle in the Middle East. Turn the hearts of “Assyria” and Egypt to you even in our day. Let there be a spontaneous revival that bursts forth on the Middle East and changes the whole landscape of Israel and Israel’s neighbors.
Bring Jewish people to acknowledge their own Messiah Yeshua, according to Isaiah’s prediction (Is. 6:8-13) and Your own prediction of Matt. 23:39. Bring the surrounding nations to embrace those “greater riches” that would be released into the world when Israel comes into her “fullness” (Rom. 11:12).
We acknowledge You, Yeshua, as king of the whole world, even though the world as a whole does not yet recognize You. Amen.
